Ditch Assist Lite

Ditch Assist Lite runs the full app as guidance from an Emlid Reach RS3 or RS4 on the implement. No control module, no wires, no valve: you move the blade, the app shows you where.

  • Ditch Assist Lite

Ditch Assist® Lite runs every workflow in the app: Ditching, Simple Grading, Leveling, Forming, Terracing, Tiling, Levee & Contour, Excavation and LiDAR & Mapping. The tablet reads an Emlid Reach RS3 or RS4 GPS receiver mounted on the implement, over the receiver's own Wi-Fi. You work the blade while the screen shows cut and fill.

Ditch Assist Lite: how it connects A dozer with Ditch Assist Lite, with numbered markers. 1: an Emlid Reach RS3 or RS4 on a pole on the blade, the only part on the machine: no control module, no wires to the cab and no valve. 2: the tablet in the cab joins the Reach’s own Wi-Fi hotspot, which has no internet. RTK corrections reach the receiver one of two ways: 3: by LoRa radio from a second Reach set up as a base on a tripod, or 4: from an RTK network over the receiver’s own SIM card. 5: the operator moves the blade, following the arrows on the tablet. Only the receiver goes on the machine. The tablet joins the receiver's own Wi-Fi.
  1. Emlid Reach RS3 or RS4. On a pole on the blade. No control module, no wires, no valve.
  2. Tablet. Joins the Reach's own Wi-Fi hotspot, which has no internet, and shows the guidance.
  3. Reach base. A second Reach set up as a base on a tripod sends corrections by LoRa radio.
  4. Or an RTK network. Corrections over the receiver's own SIM card. Emlid Corrections over the SIM: RS4 and RS4 Pro only, not in Canada.
  5. You move the blade. Follow the guidance on the tablet.

What's different from a control-module kit

  • One licence per receiver. A one-time unlock code, typed in once. Checking it needs no internet.
  • No automation. The app never moves the blade. You get Start and Stop for guidance, and no Raise, Lower or Hold.
  • Rock-Hit Detection is off.
  • On an excavator, grade is a check between cuts, not live at the bucket tip.

What you need

  • An Emlid Reach RS3 or RS4 for each machine
  • A mast or pole mount, so the receiver rides up and down with the cutting edge
  • RTK corrections: a second Reach as a base, or a data SIM card in the receiver
  • An Android tablet with the Ditch Assist app (the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11+ is the one we recommend)
  • An unlock code for each receiver, by email from us

Set it up in this order

You do these once. After that, each day takes a minute or two: switch the receiver on, join its Wi-Fi, pick a workflow.
