A tour of the app

Find your way round the Ditch Assist app: the Home cards, Change Mode, the sidebar, Settings, the built-in Manual, Pre-Flight Checks, and the stats bar and badges on the Survey and Grade screens.

In the app Home

The Ditch Assist® app has three kinds of screen: Home, where you pick the job; the Survey and Grade screens, where you work; and Settings and the Manual. The sidebar takes you between them. This page is the overview; each part has a Reference page with every button.

Getting started with the Ditch Assist app (video).

Home

Nine workflow cards, one per job type. Tap a card to start that workflow: it opens the connect step. The card you picked shows ACTIVE, the others dim, and Survey and Grade in the sidebar come alive.

Home with the Leveling card active and outlined in green, the other cards dimmed, a Change Mode button above the grid, and Survey and Grade enabled in the sidebar
  1. Active job. Leveling here, marked ACTIVE.
  2. Change Mode. Switch to a different kind of job.
  3. Survey and Grade. Open the work screens for the active job.

Changing workflow, or starting over

Change Mode and tapping the card that's already active both clear what's loaded: This will clear the active survey, design, grading progress, and coverage data. Saved files are not deleted; you can load them again any time.

Change Mode? This will clear the active survey, design, grading progress, and coverage data. Saved files on disk are not deleted. Cancel and Change Mode 1
  1. Change Mode. Back to the cards to pick another workflow.
Start New Session? Same text. Cancel and Start New 1
  1. Start New. Same workflow, fresh session.

Two cards can ask a question first: Forming offers to switch the units to metric (Land Forming designs are in metres), and on a tablet that has never connected to a Ditch Assist kit, LiDAR & Mapping explains the one-time unlock. Every card and its wizard: Home screen reference.

The big buttons down the right edge are sized for gloves. Prefer them on the left? Tap Settings, then tap Left on the Handedness row in the DISPLAY box at the top.

  • On Home, Settings and the Manual it shows Home, Survey, Grade, Settings, Manual and the orange Pre-Flight Checks.
  • On a Survey screen it changes to the survey tools: IQ Survey / Field Survey, Drive / Shots, the design button (Slope-IQ in Ditching), Reset and Load.
  • On a Grade screen it shows Start (then Stop and Hold), Reset, the nudge or Auto-Nudge™ pass buttons, and Raise / Lower.

Every button: Sidebars reference.

Settings at a glance

One long scrolling page, top to bottom: Mode (Ditch Assist or Ditch Assist Lite), DISPLAY, UNITS, MAP, DRAIN-IQ, IMPLEMENT, SURVEY (blade height, benchmark offset, RTK filter), GRADING, Fields, LOOKAHEAD, ALERTS, Pre-Start Safety, CONTROLLER (valve tuning), DEBUG, LOGS (Send Logs), ABOUT, DIG Module Firmware, Dealer Code, and the Emlid Diagnostics button at the very bottom.

The wrench badge on the Survey and Grade screens opens Settings too. What each setting does: Settings reference.

The built-in Manual

Manual in the sidebar opens the full Operator's Manual on the tablet, no internet needed. Pick a chapter from the list on the left or a card. It follows the app language (the Language / Idioma row in the DISPLAY box of Settings). The same chapters are linked from these Learning Center pages under "App manual".

Manual screen: table of contents on the left from Getting Started to What's New, chapter cards with sub-topic counts in the middle, sidebar on the right with Manual highlighted
  1. Contents. Every chapter down the left; tap one to open it. The squares in the middle are the same chapters.
  2. Manual. Black while the manual is open.

Pre-Flight Checks

The orange button at the bottom of the sidebar opens a panel with the connection, GPS quality and, on a control module, the Raise / Lower test. Open it before every job. Pre-flight checks.

The Survey and Grade screens

Both have a map, a profile chart under it and a stats bar across the top. The Grade screen adds the Grade / Depth Guide on the right edge of the map: the tip of the triangle is your cutting edge.

Stats bar and badges

Left end of the Survey screen stats bar: Distance, Points, Start Elev, Current Elev, Drop, A to B Grade 1
  1. Numbers. Survey: distance, points, elevations, drop and grade. Grade screen: current, target, design and nudge.

On grading screens the bar also carries the Auto Nudge switch.

  1. Auto Nudge. Turns Auto-Nudge pass staging on or off. Nudge and Auto-Nudge

More: Stats bar reference, Grade screen reference, GPS Info popover, the BM badge.
