Setting the target elevation

Leveling chapter of the Ditch Assist app manual. The same text is in the app under Manual.

In the app Manual › Leveling › Setting the target elevation

The leveling input bar at the bottom of the map is the only "design" you make. It is visible whenever grading is stopped — including before the first Start.

The bar, left to right:

  • Target Elevation (ft / m) field plus the green Set Target button — tap the field, type the elevation (decimals allowed, feet or meters per Settings → UNITS), tap Set Target.
  • The blue Use Current button — applies the target immediately: current GPS elevation with the benchmark offset applied (blade height is never subtracted). No Set Target tap is needed afterwards. Disabled without a GPS fix; refuses a stale/frozen feed.
  • Depth Below Bucket (ft / m) field plus the orange Dig This Deep button — sets target = anchor − depth. The anchor is the elevation captured by your last Use Current / Set Target; repeated depth taps measure from that same anchor and do not compound. The typed depth is sticky between jobs.
  • The outlined Clear Offset button — clears the depth field and resets the target back to the anchor.

The Apply Depth Offset? dialog. If a depth value is in the field when you tap Use Current, the app asks: Apply Offset (re-anchor at the current elevation and dig that depth below it), Use Current Only (clear the offset; anchor = target = current elevation), or Cancel.

Changing the target later

If you've already started leveling and want to change the target:

  1. Tap Stop if grading is active.
  2. The leveling input bar reappears at the bottom of the screen, pre-filled with your current target.
  3. Edit it and tap Set Target — or tap Use Current again (which applies immediately).
  4. Tap Start in the sidebar to resume grading at the new elevation.

(You can also tap the amber Change Target button in the sidebar — it halts grading and clears the target so the bar is ready for fresh entry.)

Showing the target on screen

Once leveling is active, the Current Target in the top stats bar shows the value (with nudge applied). The Final Target shows the un-nudged value.
