Multi-segment runs with Change Grade
Manual Grade chapter of the Ditch Assist app manual. The same text is in the app under Manual.
In the app Manual › Manual Grade › Multi-segment runs with Change Grade
Real jobs often need more than one grade — a 0.25% leg into a 0.10% leg, or a level pad that transitions into a slope. Manual Grade supports this through the Change Grade button in the sidebar.
To change grade mid-run:
- Tap Change Grade in the sidebar. The controller halts (Manual mode only — the Excavator manual-grade sub-flow has no controller halt). The current segment is closed at your present position.
- No dialog opens — the inline Set Grade bar (already visible once grading stops) holds the prior grade, direction, and depth offset.
- Edit the values and tap Apply.
- Drive to the new start point and lower the blade.
- Tap Start. Because Change Grade closed the segment, the Ready to Start? dialog appears again — confirm to anchor the new segment's 0+00 at your current GPS, and the next segment begins.
Where the segments show up:
- Profile chart. The run draws as one continuous line on a cumulative-station axis. Each Change Grade reads as a kink in the design line. The current station resets implicitly at each segment, but the chart x-axis keeps growing so you can see the whole job.
- Map. Each segment's 0+00 anchor is marked with a colored pin and a labelled pill, for example "S1 · 0.50% ↓" or "S2 · 0.25% ↓". The colors cycle through orange, blue, purple, and pink as you add segments.
- Top stats bar. A Seg N/M chip appears when M ≥ 2 — N is the active segment, M is the total count for the job.
Where Change Grade is available:
The button appears in both the Manual Grade view and the Excavator manual-grade sub-flow (no design loaded), whenever grade parameters are set — including while grading is active. In the Excavator sub-flow the controller-halt step is a no-op (Excavator has no hydraulic commands).
