Tips & gotchas

Manual Grade chapter of the Ditch Assist app manual. The same text is in the app under Manual.

0% is a valid grade. Type 0 in the Set Grade bar and tap Set Grade (or Apply) — the design becomes a level plane at your 0+00 elevation. Useful for footings, pads, parking lots.

The grade field has no upper bound, but most agricultural jobs run 0.05–5%. Anything outside that range usually means a typo. 100% is technically accepted; it just isn't what you want.

Depth Offset is the right way to cut below the anchored surface. Instead of nudging down 12 taps after Start, enter the depth in the bar's Depth Offset field before Start — the whole design line drops by that amount from the captured 0+00.

To anchor at a known elevation instead of current GPS, lower the blade to that elevation while the Ready to Start? dialog is open — the dialog gives you a moment to position the bucket or blade where you actually want 0+00. As soon as you tap START, the current GPS position is locked.

Change Grade does not move the previous 0+00 — it opens a new one. Each segment carries its own 0+00 reference, and the profile chart keeps them stitched together on the cumulative-station axis. If you need to physically restart at the same anchor point you used earlier, drive back to that location and Change Grade there.

The Manual Grade view does not show a survey or coverage heatmap. This is by design — Manual Grade has no terrain data, only the design slope. If you want a cut/fill heatmap or pass coverage, you need a survey + Slope-IQ or Simple Grade with a survey instead.
