Quick start

Manual Grade chapter of the Ditch Assist app manual. The same text is in the app under Manual.

In the app Manual › Manual Grade › Quick start

Six steps from card tap to grading:

  1. On the Home screen, tap the Simple Grading card (or Excavator for the excavator sub-flow).
  2. In the wizard, tap Enter Grade Only.
  3. The Grade screen opens in Manual Grade mode with the inline Set Grade bar at the bottom of the map (no dialog appears). Type a target grade percent (0 is allowed for a level pad), pick Downhill (red arrow) or Uphill (blue arrow), optionally enter a Depth Offset in inches (cm in metric) for how far below the anchored reference the first target sits, and tap the green Set Grade button.
  4. Drive (or position the machine) to your start point. Lower the blade onto the ground at the elevation you want as your 0+00 reference.
  5. Tap Start in the sidebar.
  6. The Ready to Start? dialog appears showing your grade and direction. Confirm — tap START to lock your current GPS as the 0+00 reference and begin grading. On a plain Stop → Start within the same segment this dialog does not re-appear; resumption uses the same 0+00. After Change Grade closes a segment, though, the next Start shows the dialog again to anchor the new segment's 0+00.

The chevrons in the centre of the screen show whether the blade is above or below target (same chevron rules as Ditching — see Ditching → Auto-grading the ditch). The profile chart along the bottom edge draws the straight design line and your live position cursor along it.
