Channel direction matters. The channel survey direction defines what the design considers "outlet". If the auto-detect is wrong, use the Outlet toggle in the design dialog.

Berm survey on the downhill side. Conventional terraces put the berm downhill from the channel — water collects in the channel, the berm prevents it from cutting downhill across the field.

Compaction is fixed at 15% in this build. There is no Compaction Allowance control — not in the Terrace design dialog and not in Settings. The 15% factor is built into the volume strip ("Cut req. (incl. 15% comp.)").

Auto-Balance walks Depth Offset deeper, not shallower. It assumes you want to cut more channel to feed more berm. If you actually want a shallower channel, do the opposite manually — raise the offset until the volume strip says fill is short and accept that you'll have to import soil.

Channel-first vs berm-first. Most jobs are channel-first because it generates the soil for the berm. Berm-first works when you have soil already on site or when ground is too wet to channel first.

One pass per phase is rare. Both halves usually take multiple passes. Plan for Auto-Nudge.
