Designing the tile

Contour Tiling chapter of the Ditch Assist app manual. The same text is in the app under Manual.

In the app Manual › Contour Tiling › Designing the tile

When you tap Stop, the standard Tiling design dialog opens — the same dialog, the same depth-constrained optimizer, and the same four parameter cards as standard Tiling:

  • TARGET DEPTH — the ideal depth below the surface for the tile.
  • MIN DEPTH — the shallowest the tile is allowed to be (frost line / minimum burial).
  • MAX DEPTH — the deepest the tile can go (equipment / soil limit).
  • MIN GRADE — the minimum drainage grade; the design never goes flatter than this.

The chart shows the route you drove as the surface, the proposed tile line in black, and the depth window. Everything in the Tiling chapter's The Tiling design dialog page applies here — outlet detection, the violation banner, the stats strip, and the Required Start Depth badge all work the same.

The difference from standard Tiling: the surface on the chart is the route you drove along the contour, so the tile design follows the lay of the land instead of a straight chord. The app also remembers which contour you followed and saves it with the design, so the install screen can draw it as a reference line.

Tap Apply Design. The app saves the design (route plus the contour reference), opens the Grade screen, and prompts for benchmark calibration.
