Installing the tile

Contour Tiling chapter of the Ditch Assist app manual. The same text is in the app under Manual.

In the app Manual › Contour Tiling › Installing the tile

Installing a contour tile works like standard Tiling for depth, with one addition: the app steers you back along the route you drove.

To start trenching:

  1. Drive to the outlet end of the tile line.
  2. Lower the trencher / plow / chain trencher to the design depth at the outlet (use the Final Target reading in the stats bar to position). The same Start depth gate as standard Tiling applies — Start stays disabled with a Lower X″ to start hint until the blade reaches target depth (simulator exempt).
  3. Tap Start in the sidebar.
  4. Follow the steering lightbar to stay on your saved route. The contour you followed is drawn faintly as a reference. The blade holds the tile depth automatically as you go.

Horizontal steering, vertical automatic

  • The lightbar keeps you on the line you drove — steer toward center, same as during the survey.
  • The blade follows the tile depth profile on its own.
  • There are no up/down depth chevrons on a contour-tile install. The line you drove already carries the depth; the lightbar is the only guidance you steer to. (Standard Tiling keeps its depth chevrons — this suppression is specific to Contour Tiling.)

Hold, Stop, Nudge

  • Hold pauses commands while staying in tile mode (road crossing, lifting over a service line). Release resumes. Auto-hold engages on RTK loss.
  • Stop at the inlet end. The job auto-saves, route and contour included.
  • Manual Nudge works — lift the tile a touch through a soft spot, or drop it briefly into a low.

Reopening a saved contour-tile job

To install a tile you designed earlier, open Tiling → Contour Tiling → Load Existing Design, or Resume Job. The app restores the route, the depth design, and the contour reference together. (If you try to load a contour-tile design through the generic survey loader and its contour reference is missing, the app tells you to use Contour Tiling → Load Existing Design or Resume Job instead, so the route and contour come back properly.)
